New Principals Appointed

NEW PRINCIPALS APPOINTED

It’s with great pleasure we announce that Mark Holmes and Melissa Edwards have been appointed as Principals. Over the years both Mark and Melissa have contributed to and led a number of key projects with strong collaborative and leadership skills while producing the highest standards. They are joining our current Principals of Lab-works Architecture, Joanne Kelly, Jody Seabright, Ken Collins and Ron Pynenburg.

Mark has been with us for 18 years, after joining Lab-works Architecture as an Architectural Technician in 2003. Mark’s passion for creating better built environments and his ongoing technical knowledge and expertise make him invaluable in ensuring that our clients’ projects are successful.

Becoming an Associate in 2016, Mark has contributed to the successful outcomes of our most complex laboratory and science facility projects. Mark’s portfolio includes Victoria University’s Coastal Ecology Laboratory, and work to Antarctica New Zealand’s Scott Base just to name a few.

Mark specialises in Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Drawing Management. His strong technical skills and attention to detail ensure design concepts are implemented to a high standard with clear and thorough documentation.

Melissa joined the Lab-works Architecture team in 2012, becoming an Associate in 2016. Her wealth of experience working with large cross-discipline teams and leading major commercial and laboratory projects has made her invaluable to our studio.

With an affinity for developing design solutions and guiding people through the journey, Melissa helps our clients visualise and discover an option they wouldn’t have previously considered. Her designs capture the unique requirements of every project in a thoughtful, human-centric way.

Melissa has contributed to and led a number of key projects including the Faculty of Engineering and Science Centre for Auckland University, and she’s currently leading the new University of Otago Christchurch Campus Redevelopment Project.

The biggest congratulations to Mark and Melissa and thank you for your many years of hard work and significant contribution to the practice!
