Lab-works Architecture is proud to annouce that the SCION Laboratories in Rotorua were officially opened by Steve Joyce, Minister for Science and Innovation on Wednesday 31 October 2012.

The refurbished laboratory area has been renamed in honour of Roy Orman, who lead forest products research from 1950 to 1980. His legacy to the industry was the development of a world class wood products research organisation in New Zealand. Mr Orman's son and daughter were on hand and are very proud of the honour bestowed to their father.

With building work starting in January this year and being completed in August, the 1500m2, $5.5 million facility was completed on time and on budget.

SCION CEO, Dr Warren Parker commented "We had a great team working on this project, both internally and externally. Their combined expertise and professionalism resulted in a project that was completed in time and on budget. I congratulate them all for the outstanding facility they have given us"
