Life Flight Air Ambulance Simulator
Capital & Coast District Health Board
Lab-works Architecture proudly congratulates our Senior Architectural Technician Carol Stewart for her expertise in the design and build of the Life Flight Air Ambulance Simulator, based in Wellington Hospital.
In what is believed to be a world first, Capital & Coast District Health Board launched a Life Flight air ambulance simulator at Wellington Hospital in November 2015. The life-size simulator will be used to train specialist medical staff to work in the same conditions as they would face on board the real air ambulance.
Intensive care unit specialist and clinical leader of flight services Dr Alex Psirides said delivering health care in the cramped and sometimes turbulent conditions of an air ambulance was a challenge. Now we can train staff for any conditions they may encounter before they take to the air. This is a fantastic training tool and would be the envy of hospitals.
